The Playing For Change Foundation was created on the belief that music and arts education can be a powerful force in the lives and development of young people. When a child is given the opportunity to learn a creative skill, in a safe and nurturing environment,research confirms that their cognitive, social and emotional functions improve. These improvements not only help them do better in school, but they have an equally important positive effect on their self-perception, including acceptance, motivation, confidence and how they interact with others.

 In evaluations we have conducted, of PFCF music students surveyed:

  • 77% said learning music helped them perform better at their public-school classes

  • 71% learned more about themselves, and

  • 100% said they work well as a team

We’re now taking our programs to the next level. This month we introduced a new ‘PFCF Student and Teacher Portal‘ on our website. This portal will give our students and teachers an opportunity to experience an array of music, access tools and educational materials, as well as share and learn from one another. The public will also be able to see and hear musical styles from around the world.

Music is the thread that binds us. When you give a child the chance to learn this universal language it empowers them to create their own future, enables them to contribute to their local communities, and ultimately, encourages them to become agents of change in their world.
